So-Co Shrimp & Grits

I am not typically a fan of grits, but I must say this dish was unbelievably delicious! These are the only grits I will ever eat and the dish itself was such a wonderful combination of amazing flavors and textures. Each bite is truly divine. I love every dish I've had at Southern Coast Seafood but this is definitely my new favorite!

Smash Burger

I walked into SCS today......9-11-21. This was my first time into the business. As I sat down a guy walked up to me[ owner?] and thanked me for my service....yes, I was wearing a tee shirt and hat which would indicate that I had been in the military. He offered me a free beer, and welcomed me and we spoke about 9-11. I had the smash burger and fries. The best burger I have ever had. I will be back! I am now a big fan of SCS! God Bless America! Semper Fi!

Fresh Catch

Everything we ordered was outstanding. Our waitress Cameron was polite and attentive. The scallops were the best I have had since living in Massachusetts. The peach cobbler was excellent perfect ratio of peach, cobbler, and ice cream. Perfect Atmosphere!

Oysters On The ½ Shell

You know how when you can't stop thinking about a certain song, it's called an earworm? Well apparently the scientific term is involuntary musical imagery, but who can remember something that boring? Hence earworm. And also how when you get a taste for something, it's called a hankering? I have no idea what the scientific term is for that. Umm hankering? Anyway, my lovely wife has recently had a hankering for oysters. And when she has a hankering for something, she's not shy about letting me know about it. "You know what I'm really having a hankering for?" she asked. "Yes," I quickly answered. "Oysters." "Yeah," she said. "How -" "Because you told me the exact same thing about five minutes ago. . . " Hey who doesn't love getting older and forgetting things?!? Anyway, to sate my lovely bride's hankering for oysters, we decided to try somewhere new - Southern Coast Seafood. It's right off of Monument and basically just across from the Jacksonville arboretum. Wait, you've never been to the Jacksonville arboretum? Great place to walk. And build up an appetite! Anyway Southern Coast is right on the end of the strip mall. You really can't miss it. The restaurant itself is a pretty decent size and we were struck with how clean it was when we walked in. We were seated and quickly put in an order for, well, you guessed it, oysters. Not the cheapest we've ever had but not outrageous either. The oysters were cleaned well and were tasty. Served with cocktail sauce, crackers, lemon. . . the usual. But if oysters aren't your thing they have lots of other items on the menu. We decided to split a blackened seafood platter. Fresh fish of the day was trigger fish, which was fantastic. And although the platter normally comes with fries we swapped out for the really tasty bacon sherry charred green beans because, well, BACON! Actually they really were good and probably a smidge better for us than the fries. Not a lot though, because well, (sigh) bacon. The slaw was also really good and between the oysters and the fish platter it was more than enough for the two of us for lunch. Service was quick and good and the bar looked fully stocked. All in all a great meal and definitely satisfied my wife's hankering for oysters. Well, until she gets a hankering for her next something. Meanwhile, does anyone know how to get that "Don't worry, be happy!" song out of my head? Oops, sorry. Now you've got it stuck too. Well go to Southern Coast for some oysters and fresh fish and you'll forget all about it!

Whole Fry Fish

This was the best whole fry fish I've ever had and it looked spectacular! The family couldn't stop talking about it as they had never seen a fish fried whole. Southern Coast is one of the best restaurants in the area! If you haven't tried them then check it out! The wait staff is friendly and the owners are great. Support a local mom&pop establishment.

Fish Tacos

This place is a treasure for our area! From the clean remodeled interior to the inviting back patio, every detail has been taken care of. The menu covers enough tastes for everyone in the group and we haven't had a single bad meal yet. This restaurant has become a regular dinner spot for our family each week. From the gator appetizer and chowder soup to the best mac n cheese and hush puppies in town. Friendly service and an easy access location! Jax is lucky to have this place.
